Cancellation and Refund Policy

Last updated: 9 August 2026

This page explains what you are charged for Slate, how to cancel, and when money is returned. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and the webStrake Cancellation and Refund Policy. Slate is operated by WEBSTRAKE TECHNOLOGIES LLP.

How Slate is charged

  • Slate is sold as an annual subscription per school, charged in advance. The price depends on the plan and on the number of students.
  • A one-time setup fee may apply when a school is first onboarded. Where it applies it covers the work of getting the school running, and it is shown before you pay.
  • Taxes are applied as required by Indian law and shown with the price.
  • All amounts are charged in Indian Rupees.

Cancelling

You may decide at any time not to renew. Your school keeps access until the end of the term already paid for, and we will not charge you again after that. There is no cancellation fee.

Cancelling partway through a term does not shorten that term or create an automatic entitlement to money back for the unused part. To cancel, write to us at [email protected] from the address of someone authorised to act for the organization.

Refunds

Except where Indian law requires otherwise, all fees are final and non-refundable. That includes subscription charges, the setup fee, add-ons and any other amount you pay for Slate.

  • Setup fee. The setup fee is not refundable once onboarding work has been carried out.
  • Subscription terms. A paid term is not refunded for change of mind, low usage, partial use or a decision not to renew later.
  • Upgrades. Where you move to a higher plan partway through a term, the additional amount covers the remainder of that term and is not refunded if you later move back down or stop using the added modules.
  • Service interruption. We do not promise a refund for interruption caused by suspension, breach of the Terms of Service, external systems, or events outside our reasonable control.
  • Trials and pilots. Free trial access and School Pilot Program access are free of charge, so there is nothing to refund. Any setup fee paid alongside them is treated as described above.

Duplicate or incorrect charges

If you have been charged twice, or charged an amount that does not match what you agreed, tell us within thirty days of the charge and we will correct it in full.

When a refund is due

Where a refund is required by law, or is otherwise agreed by us in writing:

  • We approve or decline your request within seven working days of receiving everything we need from you, and tell you either way.
  • An approved refund is returned to the original payment method. We cannot send it anywhere else.
  • Your bank or card issuer usually takes a further five to ten working days to show it. That part is outside our control.
  • Taxes charged on the original payment are refunded with it, as required by law.

How to ask

Write to [email protected] from the address of someone authorised to act for the organization. Tell us the school name, the payment date and amount, and what happened.

If you are not satisfied with how your request has been handled, write to Ajit Kothari, Grievance Officer, at [email protected]. We respond within thirty days.

Nothing here removes your legal rights

This policy does not take away any right you have under Indian consumer law.
